Essential Therapeutic Massage
Massage therapy is an effective way to enrich a person's life and health. Massage promotes stress management, reduces discomfort and encourages healing for the entire body. Since 2007 it has been my honor to work with clients as a North Carolina Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist.
There are multiple therapeutic massage modalities. Ortho-Bionomy® works with the body's natural reflexes to decrease chronic pain and stress. It can also help an injury heal quicker. Swedish massage can increase circulation and decrease anxiety. Deep Tissue massage allows for therapeutic manipulation to reduce pain and increase movement. Prenatal massage assists the mother-to-be in decreasing stress and managing pain. It also allows for inclusion of the baby in the overall treatment.
▪ Ortho-Bionomy® is a registered trademark of the Society of Ortho-Bionomy International, Inc. and is used with permission.
Since each client has unique requirements for their massage and bodywork, every treatment is a customized therapeutic experience.
Elements of Therapeutic Sessions
Ortho-Bionomy® works to achieve better postural balance and comfort. This treatment technique is encouraged for chronic stress relief and inflammation. The body is gently stimulated to allow for self-correction. Natural realignment restores balance. Since this is a principle based therapy, instead of a protocol based therapy, the individual is encouraged to participate in the restorative process. By using techniques that are non-invasive, non-forceful, safe and gentle, the body becomes more aware of comfort within itself, and frequently holds the more comfortable position longer than with other forms of bodywork.
Ortho-Bionomy® sessions are performed with the client fully dressed, in loose fitting clothes and on top of the sheet.
Swedish massage is a technique utilized for effective circulation, increased levels of energy and promotion of relaxation. Deep Tissue massage focuses on deeper layers of muscle and fascia. This technique is normally used to address pain and movement issues. It may involve a higher level of pressure than a Swedish massage. Swedish and Deep Tissue are the more traditional types of massage that most clients may be more familiar with. When receiving Swedish or deep tissue massage, clients are encouraged to disrobe to their comfort level and are securely draped.
Prenatal massage is also done with the mother-to-be disrobed to her level of comfort and draped properly. Mother and baby can enjoying receiving a massage with The Prego Brand® pregnancy pillow system, or if mom prefers, she can choose to be massaged in the side lying position.
Clients tend to find themselves relaxed and peaceful after the session, regardless of their chosen modality.
All services are for therapeutic purposes only.
